Frequently asked questions

3 Easy steps:

Step 1: Speak with a TurnWheel Health and Wellness Coach (TWHWC) for your FREE 15 minute Consultation to determine what plan may be the best fit for you.

Step 2: Create a login via link to HIPAA secure website.

Step 3: Go to calendar and select the date/time for your first virtual visit.

The role of the HWC is to create a partnership between you (the client) and the coach. The HWC is uniquely qualified to use evidence-based coaching practices to bridge the gap between a client’s own health values and needs with his/her/their own life plan. Success is defined by the client and supported by the coach.

A Health and Wellness coach generally has a 4-year degree in a health and/or nutrition-related field including: dietetics, counseling, psychology, fitness, public health, medicine, and nursing. A Health and Wellness coach can become certified with the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) by completing and accredited program and passing the board exam.

The HWC will follow the ethical standards set by the International Federation of Coaching (ICF). The HWC will also follow the individual ethical standards set by their individual discipline. A HWC who is a dietitian will follow the standards as set by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in the areas of competence, professionalism, integrity and social responsibility.

Clients who have a regular health coach have seen the following benefits:

  • Better sleep
  • Lower stress
  • Improved nutrition
  • Increased physical exercise
  • Better time management skills
  • Smoking cessation

Ultimately, you as the client determines how long you see the HWC. The minimum Health Coaching agreement at TurnWheel is for 3 consecutive months. The reason for this minimum is to allow ample time to develop and focus on your selected goals. The HWC will determine the coaching structure including length and number of sessions per month and whether the coaching is conducted via telephone, virtual or in-person. The HWC may also decide if the coaching is best done individually or in groups.

Be a “cheerleader."

The role of the HWC is to form a trusted partnership, offer expertise in positive behavior change and direct the coaching process.

Provide disease management.

Unless the coach has a separate license or certificate to practice dietetics, physical therapy, personal training or medicine, the HWC cannot offer expertise in these areas. Your coach can refer you to a specialist if appropriate.

Engage in teaching, advising or information sharing,

UNLESS permission is obtained by the client. Offer personal opinions, preferences, and judgments. The TWHWC follows the client’s agenda, not their own.

TurnWheel suggests exploring the best value versus cost in the marketplace. We are confident you will find that our quality of coaching and cost are not matched. Please go to Plans to see pricing for each available package.

The Holistic Health Package combines Health Coaching with dietary counseling with a Registered Dietitian. This package gives you 10 thirty minute sessions per month. You have the choice of adding additional sessions or lengthening your sessions at the discretion of the HWC. There may be an additional cost with additional sessions.

If you need help in disease management, the HWC can make appropriate recommendations. If the HWC coach holds a license or certificate in another discipline, the coach can help explain how a separate contracting agreement may be offered.

An individual licensed as a dietitian according to the laws in his or her or their state.

An individual registered as a dietitian or a dietitian nutritionist with the commission on dietetic registration which authorizes the individual to use the title "registered dietitian nutritionist" or "registered dietitian" and the abbreviation "RDN" or "RD".

Health professionals agree that nutrition services are one of the first treatments that individuals should receive to improve conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and hypertension. Many registered dietitian nutritionists work in the treatment and prevention of disease by providing medical nutrition therapy. The RDN often acts as part of a medical team, in various practice settings, such as hospitals, physician offices, private practice and other health care facilities.

Medical nutrition therapy provided by an RDN includes:
• Review of your eating habits and lifestyle.
• Thorough assessment of your nutritional status.
• Personalized nutrition treatment plan.

Ask your doctor if a referral for medical nutrition therapy provided by a registered dietitian nutritionist is right for you. With a physician's referral, you can make an appointment to see the RDN at your local hospital outpatient department, physician clinic or at an RDN's practice near your home. MNT is generally reserved for licensed RD/RDN's however certain states allow MNT to be conducted by non-licensed RD.  (Note: MNT can be conducted by a non-licensed RD however may not be reimbursed by Medicare without RD credential). Part of the coaching relationship includes staying aware of the effectiveness of the coaching process. It is appropriate to bring up any concerns about your coach partnership during your sessions. If it is found that the HWC is not a good fit, you may have the choice of choosing another coach at TurnWheel.

The HWC fosters trust with clients by:

• Supporting the client’s focus
• Demonstrating effective listening
• Using unsuccessful actions as learning experiences
• Acknowledging successes
• Demonstrating confidentiality
• Practicing professional and ethical behavior

A refund of your membership fee may be available only after the first 30 days of your agreement. The Health Assessment visit is non-refundable.

TurnWheel can bill Medicare directly for Medical Nutrition Therapy starting in March, 2022.

A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with TurnWheel, LLC can offer telehealth services to clients who live in all states in the U.S., with the exception of states that require the RD/RDN to live in the same state as their client. Mindful Awareness (MA) is a practice in noticing what is happening at the present moment. It allows both client and coach to hear messages from the body and mind. Regular practice of MA enables a person to identify and focus on key issues early, before they get out of control. The ability to observe how you react to situations can allow you to choose healthy responses which can impact many common health conditions including heart disease, chronic pain, cancer, menopause and  weight management.

People trained in Mindful Awareness can have an easier time understanding and MA has been shown to improve quality of life in many areas including:

  • Mental and physical health
  • Eating and sleeping habits
  • Substance abuse
  • Spirituality
  • Relationships with others
  • Emotional well-being and quality of life
